About Leslie

Leslie Lowder is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and a Certified Yoga Therapist.

In 1998, Leslie began studying Iyengar Yoga at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Los Angeles, California where after her first class she was hooked. Her scoliosis related back pain diminished and she found a solace of mind she never knew possible.  In 2006, she graduated from the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Los Angeles three year teacher training program. In 2007, she moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina where she began teaching a full schedule of classes and privates from her 14th floor apartment living room. In October of 2009 she relocated to NYC where she continued to study and teach in various studios all over the city and was also employed for 2 ½ years with Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council where she taught 14 classes/week to Senior Citizens living in low income assisted living housing.  In September of 2012, she passed the Introductory II level of certification in the Iyengar Yoga method under the mentor-ship of her primary teacher Brooke Myers.

In 2015, Leslie moved to Hudson, NY where she teaches small group classes and private classes from her home studio.

Leslie loves teaching yoga to all levels of students and holds a particular affinity to teaching those who find yoga intimidating because of their age or a physical limitation or just not feeling flexible.  She enjoys dispelling these fears of yoga because it truly is a democratic practice meant for all and not just those bendy bodies you see in magazines.  Leslie’s teaching is knowledgeable, energetic and focused. She imbues each class with her peaceful and compassionate presence leaving her students feeling refreshed, centered and recharged.  Leslie feels truly blessed to be able to share the path of yoga with her students so that they may gain the benefits of greater strength, mobility, balance, relaxation and inner peace that comes with practicing this awe – inspiring art form.
